Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026

This privacy policy applies to the iOS and Android apps Gamekeep. It explains what personal data is processed, for what purpose, on what legal basis, and what rights you have. Gamekeep is designed as a privacy-first app: your game collection belongs to you. It is not transmitted to us and is never used for advertising or tracking. Platform differences are called out in the relevant sections.

1. Data Controller

Pixel Project
Owner: Pixel Project
Email: gamekeep@pixel-project.de
Web: pixel-project.de

2. How your data is stored

iOS: Gamekeep stores your collection locally on your iPhone/iPad in a Core Data database. If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for Gamekeep, the data is additionally synced through Apple CloudKit in your personal iCloud container. We have no access to this data at any point — it lives exclusively in your iCloud account and on your devices.

Android: Gamekeep stores your collection locally on your device (Room/SQLite database). Optionally, you can enable Google Drive sync in Settings. Gamekeep then stores a snapshot of your library (collections, games, profile) in the hidden app data folder of your Google account (drive.appdata). Pixel Project never has access to this file — it lives only in your Google account and on your devices. Without this option, or after you sign out, the library stays on-device only. Uninstalling the app removes local data unless you exported it first (e.g. as CSV). Data in the Drive app-data folder remains in your Google account until you remove it via Google Drive settings (Manage apps) or Google deletes the app’s data.

3. Data you enter yourself

The following data is processed only when you actively enter it:

4. Sharing collections

iOS (CloudKit Sharing): When you share a collection, iOS creates an Apple CloudKit share link. Only people who receive this link from you and who are signed in to iCloud can access the collection. Pixel Project never has access to shared collections. Sharing only involves the following technical fields:

Android: There is no live sharing of collections. You can export a collection or the library as a CSV file and share it yourself. The file leaves your device only when you send it via the system share sheet; Pixel Project does not receive it.

5. Third-party data sources

On request, Gamekeep enriches your collection with game information from third-party providers. We only send the search query (e.g. a game title or barcode) to the relevant provider — never your collection or personal data:

6. App purchase

On both platforms Gamekeep is a one-time purchase. The app itself has no in-app purchases and no subscription.

7. Feedback, bug reports, and debug logs

If you use “Feedback” or “Email debug log” in Settings, we open your device’s system mail function pre-filled with technical data:

You decide in each case whether to actually send the message. The recipient is gamekeep@pixel-project.de. We use the email solely to handle your request and delete it once resolved (at the latest after 12 months).

8. Notifications

Gamekeep can optionally notify you about new free games or offers ending soon:

9. App rating

“Rate Gamekeep” only opens the respective store’s system rating UI (Apple’s in-app prompt or the Google Play listing). Pixel Project does not learn whether you submitted a rating.

10. Analytics, tracking, advertising

Gamekeep contains no trackers, no analytics SDK, no advertising platforms, and no third-party code for user profiling. No advertising identifier is read (neither Apple’s IDFA nor Google’s Advertising ID).

11. Legal bases (GDPR)

12. Recipients / processors

13. Retention

Your collection stays on your device until you delete the app or manually remove the data inside Gamekeep. On iOS it also stays in your iCloud account while sync is enabled. On Android it also stays in your Google Drive app-data folder while optional sync is enabled. Diagnostic emails are deleted once resolved (max. 12 months). Apple and Google retain statistical order data according to their own retention periods. The optional Android installation ID or iOS APNs token at the Offers proxy is used only for offer alerts and is deleted if you switch apps or request deletion.

14. Your rights

You have the right at any time to:

For an access or deletion request, a short email to gamekeep@pixel-project.de is enough.

15. Children

Gamekeep is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. For minors’ accounts, Apple’s Family Sharing rules apply on iOS and Google Play family features apply on Android.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy when technical or legal changes require it. The current version applies to iOS and Android and is accessible in both apps under “Settings → Legal → Privacy policy”.
